3 Months Old!!!

Ryan continues to grow and learn new things every day.  He is now over 18 pounds!!! He loves to "talk".  It's pretty funny to watch Ryan share his day when Dad comes home from work at night. He has found his hands and loves to try to stick his entire fist in his mouth. Ryan also loves playing on his tummy time mat. He has such strong legs and loves to wiggle them.

Ryan got to play in the snow for the first time. I think Mom and Dad had more fun dressing Ryan up. He seemed indifferent it, but he did make a great snow angel with Dad's help.

Ryan visited the ocean for the first time this month. MLK was a beautiful day so we headed to the beach. We were able to watch a surf competition and take a walk along the ocean.  It's times like this, you have to love living in California!

Hockey is back and Ryan loves watching the Sharks play. He is still getting used to when we cheer. He gets scared and cries, but he is learning. Soon he will be cheering along with us.

This month, Mom is preparing to go back to work. Ryan is going to be in the very caring and capable hands of Grandma and Nana while Mom is at work. Mom, however, is going to be a total wreck. She has really come to enjoy her time with her little man going on walks and watching him grow and learn every day.

Times sure flies and we can't wait to see what the next month brings.

We have a 2 month old!

Ryan turned 2 months old on December 29th. He has been growing so fast and has really put on some lbs. Dad weighed him on his birthday and he weighs 15.6 pounds.  Mom has had to pack away all of his newborn clothes and most of his 3 month outfits. He has been wearing mostly 6 months clothes!

First Smiles

Ryan is now smiling. He had his first smile while playing on his tummy time mat 2 days before he turned 6 weeks old. Mommy got so excited she screamed and scared him out of smiling again for a day. Mom and Dad love spending their time trying to get a smile out of him. Although he smiles a lot now, it has been hard to get on camera.

First Playdate

Mom has a friend that had her baby, Jackson, 2 days after Ryan was born. The boys got together to have a playdate - well, it was probably more for the moms.

First Christmas
Not only was this Ryan's first Christmas, it was his first time visiting Santa. We had a great experience visiting Santa at the San Jose POA.

Ryan has been a social butterfly attending all kinds of holiday parties this month. He went to Jeff's work holiday dinner and met all his Schwiers cousins at their annual Christmas get-together. He celebrated Christmas Eve at the Vidmars'. His cousins Jack and Justin were very good with Ryan and Jack even offered to teach him to do summersaults - we may have to wait a couple years for that.  Ryan also got to celebrate with his soon to be family the Bernardos. On Christmas Day, Ryan found that Santa had come. He got a lot of presents that came in his very own personalized sack. ]

Later in the day, he celebrated at the Maisens and met his Great Aunt Theresa, Uncle Mike, Aunt Heather and Cousin Finn.

First trip to the snow

We left for Tahoe on Thursday after Christmas. We couldn't believe how much stuff we had to pack. The trip up, we only had to stop once, and it was more for Dad to get a Starbucks. Ryan got to see snow and Mom and Dad even had a chance to ski a little thanks to Grandma and Grandpa. We were up in Tahoe for Ryan's actual 2 month birthday.

 Ryan is 1 month old!!!

This last month has been such an amazing adventure already! Ryan was born on Monday afternoon on October 29th. He made his debut at 12:49pm, weighing in at 8 pounds and 19 1/2 inches long.

We have had three visits to the doctor since he was born. Ryan quickly gained back his birth weight. By the time we went to his two week appointment, we learned that Ryan gained an entire pound in a week! He weighed in at 9 pounds.

We just went to the doctor again on Monday December 3rd and Ryan is still beefing up. He gained another 2.5 pounds since his last appointment. He now weighs 12.5 pounds.

This month has been so exciting! We have already had a few firsts:

In a effort to venture out of the house, we went for a walk around the neighborhood. Ryan slept the whole time.

First bath

The first real bath was definitely a two person job. The YouTube videos made it look so easy, but we didn't know what we were doing. Ryan cried the entire time, and Jeff got peed on. Bath time has since gotten better. We have learned that it is best to give him a bath after mealtime when he is mellow. 

He may not love baths yet, but he loves to snuggle after 

First Thanksgiving

We had an amazing Thanksgiving at the Vidmar home this year. We spent time with Grandma and Grandpa Vidmar, Uncle Mikey,  Nana and Grandpa Maisen, Auntie Jewels, and Bob and Madeleine. Jeff was able to do the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot. With Ryan keeping Melissa up at night, she decided not to do the race this year and slept instead. When Dad got home, she did her own 5K around the neighborhood.

First Christmas Tree

Ryan was very lucky because he got to experience two Christmas tree hunts. Friday after Thanksgiving, we went to the mountain to cut down a tree. The next weekend, we went to a nursery between rainstorms to pick out another one.

This month has been a learning experience for us: changing diapers, giving baths, learning cries. We have already seen Ryan grow so much. He is out of this newborn clothes and it feels like time is flying by. We see changes in Ryan every day and he is becoming more and more aware of his surroundings. We are already in love with our little man and we feel so blessed to call him our son. We can't wait to see what the next month brings. 

We're Having a Hockey Player...It's a BOY!!!

As many of you know, Jeff and I are expecting our first child in early November.  We had many predictions on what people thought we were having. Most people thought were were having a girl (we even thought so). We visited the doctor this week, and much to our surprise, we found out we're having a boy!!!
