He's 8 Months Old!

Pool Party!!!

This month has been full of celebrations. First we celebrated Aunt Nicole's (Zia) completion of her teaching credential and masters. Ryan enjoyed his first pool party at the Bernardo's home. It was filled with good food, as usual, great company, and a game of Giant Jenga.

We also celebrated Jeff's first Father's Day.  We had breakfast in the morning and then went to Livermore for wine tasting. We lounged on some chairs under an umbrella, sipped some wine, and nibbled on some snacks. It was a very relaxing day.
Ryan made this for Father's Day

Ryan had his very first night without mommy. Melissa went up to Napa for a bachelorette celebration so Ryan spent the entire day and evening wearing out Jeff. Melissa missed her boys and was back early the next morning - mostly because she's used to getting up early these days.

Ryan started swimming lessons. Don't worry, he's not really learning to swim. He is in an "aqua babies" class where they teach kids 6 months - 2 years old about being comfortable in the water. Basically, we sing songs, splash around, play with some toys.

Ready for the boat!
In addition to his swim lessons, Ryan has been enjoying his time in his own little pool. He loves to splash and play with his water toys when he's not trying to crawl out :)

And, in case the swim lessons and water play don't help, Ryan is set with his first life jacket so he can go on Grandma and Grandpa's boat this summer.

Getting into mischief

Ryan has become more mobile these days. He's not crawling just yet.  He likes to get his legs ready but gives up and plops on his belly. He also rolls across the room now, especially when be spots a cell phone or tv remote.

He has also been doing a little standing when he's leaning up against something.

On Ryan's actual 8th month birthday, he had his first trip to the beach.  He LOVED the sand, and surprisingly, he didn't try to eat it. The ocean itself is a different story. We're hoping it was just the cold water because our next adventure is heading to Hawaii on July 4th. I'm sure we'll have a lot to say about that trip, especially his first airplane ride :)

Love that face!
